Maya E Joseph received her bachelor’s degree in nursing from School of Medical Education in Kerala, India. She received her master’s in health care informatics. She is pursuing PhD in Nursing Science and received candidacy from Rutgers College of Nursing. With about 20 years of experience and a certification in critical care nursing Ms. Joseph is currently working as an education specialist in critical care division at University hospital, Newark, NJ. Ms. Joseph’s topic of interest is the impact of social determinants of health on the diagnosis of diabetes among Asian Indians in the United States. Ms. Joseph is a Jonas Scholar for leadership. She is actively involved with professional organizations and has held multiple leadership positions. One of her publications is a peer reviewed article which she co-authored with her mentor. Ms. Joseph has also presented various local and national forums.

Congratulations on receiving the 2020 Dr. Omana Simon Research Award from NAINA.
